What Is Solar Energy?

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity you can use in your home.

They’re typically installed on your roof and generate power during daylight hours, even on cloudy days.

At its simplest:

Sunlight → Electricity → Power for your home

How Solar Panels Work 

Here’s what happens when sunlight hits your panels:

  1. Solar panels generate electricity
    They produce DC electricity (direct current)

    Your home runs on AC electricity, so an inverter converts it.

  3. Your home uses the energy first
